  • No one wants it to be a popularity contest but it is.  Historically the people have always chosen the better looking candidate.  If you look and sound good that's all the people need, they want someone with charisma and a positive attitude.

  • Rob - I was focusing on the debate, not the campaign in general. Obviously McCain's strategy has been primarily to attack.  I'm just saying I don't think that smearing should be the focus of the debate.  That's not why people watch it.
